All-terrain (A/T) tires are designed for a mix of on-road comfort and light off-road use. Mud-terrain (M/T) tires are more aggressive and built for serious off-roading. They are also much louder and not as fun when you are driving around in the city.
Rugged-terrain (R/T) tires sit in the middle, giving you stronger off-road traction than an A/T AND better road manners than an M/T. That’s exactly where the Avix TrailTek R/T fits in — built for drivers who want more bite off-road without making daily driving a pain in the butt.
R/T tires are ideal for drivers who use their truck for a little bit of everything. From commuting to the jobsite during the week to hitting dirt roads on the weekends.
The Avix TrailTek R/T was built for giving you that balance of real-world versatility. It’s capable on a variety of off-road terrains: snow, mud, loose rock, gravel. It’s also been tested on the pavement, whether it’s wet or dry – the TrailTek R/T has proven itself to outperform the big tire brands.
More aggressive tread usually means more road noise, but not all aggressive tires are the same. Tread pattern, block design, and overall tire construction all play a role in how loud a tire feels on pavement.
The Avix TrailTek R/T will be quieter than what you’d expect from a full mud-terrain tire. That being said, it will have a slightly more noticeable sound than a standard highway tire. But we think the trade-off is well worth it.
Most Rugged Terrain (R/T) tires are designed to keep that noise more controlled while still giving you off-road grip. That is a big part of the TrailTek R/T story — it brings an aggressive look and capable traction without the kind of constant highway drone people expect from a more extreme tire.
Tire life depends on how you drive, how often you rotate them, alignment, air pressure, and the kinds of roads or trails you are on. For most drivers, a quality all-terrain or rugged-terrain tire can last anywhere from 40,000 to 60,000 miles when properly maintained.
We stand behind up to a 45,000 mile tread life warranty – however, we’ve had several customers drive their Avix TrailTek R/T for up to 70,000+ miles! Of course, how hard your drive them and how well you take care of them will certainly have an impact on how long they’ll last. But that being said, we’ve had great success with the TrailTek R/T going for a long time!
Load rating tells you how much weight a tire can safely carry. That matters if you drive a truck, tow trailers, carry tools or gear, or put your vehicle through heavier-duty use. Higher load ratings generally mean a stronger tire, though they can sometimes feel a little firmer on the road.
The Avix TrailTek R/T has a 3-ply construction, Load Range E (10-ply rated). This load range rating is often made to be strong enough for bigger trucks like a Ford F250 or a Dodge Ram 2500, but can also be run on lighter duty trucks and SUVs as well. We’ve designed the TrailTek R/T to deliver the strength and durability needed for real-world work and weekend use alike.
Not necessarily. Some off-road tires perform well in snow, especially those designed with the right tread features and all-season-focused compounds. Others, especially more aggressive mud tires, may not grip as well on icy or packed winter roads.
The Avix TrailTek R/T is designed for all weather conditions, including snow and mud. The tread pattern has a wide staggered center rim, which allows for the tire to maintain strong grip and keep that ‘bite’ in snowy and icy conditions.
There are a few clear signs: low tread depth, uneven wear, cracking, damage, vibration, or a noticeable drop in traction in wet or snowy conditions.
The Avix TrailTek R/T has taken out all the guess work with our Tread Life Indicators, which are built into the tread – at 100%, 75%, 50%, and 25% – so you know exactly how much tread is left before you need to replace them with another set of Avix.
In March of 2026, the Avix TrailTek R/T conquered one of Moab, Utah’s most difficult trails – Pritchett Canyon. If you are not familiar with the trail, Google “Pritchett Canyon” on YouTube.
